Feeling Empty?

Feeling empty?

Things and "stuff" don't really satisfy, do they? New things are nice for a little while
but then the emptiness comes back. Of course, it's the emotional and spiritual emptiness that can't be filled with things of this world. Jesus gave his life so we can be full now
and be full for eternity!

Ecclesiastes 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the
human  heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

God has placed inside of every one of us a need for Him but He leaves it
up to us to choose Him, to choose life.

Romans 1:18-23
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.  Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

Jesus Christ is the only way to fill that empty place in your soul.

John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except  through me."

John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life
and have it abundantly.

Because He Hears

Psalm 116:1-2

I love the Lord because he hears my voice
and my prayer for mercy.
Because he bends down to listen,
I will pray as long as I have breath!

Beautiful In Its Time

Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

The Uncrowded Highway

Matthew 7:13-14
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

2 Corinthians 4:4
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

Jesus

John 14:6

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The Wonders Of The Lord

Psalm 65:8

The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.

You Choose

I just saw a post online that makes those of us who choose to believe the Bible is God's inspired Word out to be ignorant. If I choose to believe God created the world in 6 days then I must be gullible, stupid or both. Well, as Joshua told the Israelites in Joshua 24:14-15“Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.  But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
I choose to believe in God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the Bible.

1 Corinthians 1:18-25
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”
Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?  For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.  Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,  but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.  For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

Life To The Full

John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Jesus came to give us an abundant life--in this world and, more importantly, in the one to come. A life spent for God and Jesus doesn't mean we won't have problems. In fact, it means we most certainly will have trials and problems. James tells us to give thanks for the troubles we face. They will produce the qualities we need to please the Lord.

James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,  because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

John 16:33
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

The Fingerprints Of God

The fingerprints of God are everywhere. Do you see them?

Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

In the beginning, GOD...

Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Romans 1:19-20
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickednesssince what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

You Are Not Alone

You are not alone!
Don't you feel like it sometimes, though? You are trying to serve the Lord and do what He wants you to do and it seems like you are the only one. Next time you feel like that think about Elijah. Remember him? He was battling wicked Ahab and Jezebel. Even though God had demonstrated His awesome power and had never failed to provide for Elijah, Elijah was tired and worn out and just plain felt all alone.

1 Kings 19:9-14
“What are you doing here, Elijah?” He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.  After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.  When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.”

What was the Lord's response? 1 Kings 19:18  "Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him.”

Romans 8:38-39
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Love the world or love God?

1 John 2:15-17

Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.  For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.  And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. (NLT)

Why am I here?

Do you ever wonder why you are here or why now? I think we all do at some point in our lives. I put up my new wall calendar yesterday and the cardboard insert caught my attention. The calendar is made by DaySpring and the insert contains this message by DaySpring co-founder, Roy Lessin.

Just think,
you're here not by chance,
but by God's choosing.
His hand formed you
and made you
the person you are.
He compares you to no one else--
you are one of a kind.
You lack nothing
that His grace can't give you.
He has allowed you to be here
at this time in history
to fulfill His special purpose
for this generation.

Does that make you feel special, loved and appreciated? I hope so because you are!
